“Ibādat”: A Unique Jugalbandi of Poetry and Music
at B-CAF Art Gallery
Bridging Culture and Arts Foundation (B-CAF), hosted its inaugural performance, “Ibādat”, an enchanting fusion of poetry and music that captivated audiences in the heart of Kolkata. The event featured an extraordinary Poetry Musical Soirée, blending evocative poetry readings by renowned poet Ipsita Ganguli, soulful vocals by Indian classical musician Subhadrakalyan Rana, and the melodic strains of the sarod by Subhrajyoti Sen. “Ibādat” transcended traditional art forms, weaving poetry and music into a mesmerizing experience that resonated deeply with the audience. Performances of iconic ragas like Yaman, Desh, Behag, and Kalyan, along with Ipsita’s evocative poem ‘Nari’, created an unforgettable evening of cultural immersion. Ipsita Ganguli, an acclaimed poet and curator, enthralled the audience with her poignant verses. With three independent anthologies to her name and widespread international recognition, her performance was a highlight of the evening. Complementing her was Subhadrakalyan Rana, whose mastery of Indian classical music and melodious vocals added a soul-stirring dimension to the program. The event also celebrated the launch of their latest poetry anthologies: “Why I Write Poetry” by Ipsita Ganguli and “Embers and Ashes” by Subhadrakalyan Rana. The intimate setting of B-CAF provided a unique platform for a duet of poetry and music, creating a profound connection between performers and attendees.
