Tent Biennale

The TENT Biennale was held at B-CAF this year, marking a significant milestone in its journey since its inception in 2012. Over the years, TENT has nurtured an alternative art space dedicated to exploring moving images through experimentation and innovation. At a time when the media landscape has been intersected by multiple screens, forms, and aesthetics, TENT bridged the gap between theory and practice. It addressed the fluid boundaries between arts, producer-audience relationships, and the sites of production and exhibition.

The festival created meaningful connections between art practitioners and researchers through screenings, workshops, residencies, and collaborations with national and international organizations. TENT, housed in a heritage building in Kolkata, provided a space for artists from diverse disciplines to redefine the role of art, cinema, and media cultures. It showcased independently produced, innovative works that challenged traditional practices and expanded the significance of creative expression.

TENT also emphasized creating a network for marginalized arts and artists worldwide. The Little Cinema International Festival, launched in 2014, was a key highlight of its efforts. This initiative featured experimental films and new media art in collaboration with esteemed institutions like Goethe Institut-Max Mueller Bhavan, Kolkata, and the India Foundation for Arts, Bangalore. The festival screened works from prestigious platforms, including Berlinale and International Short Film Festival Oberhausen.
